Alfred Gershfeld, Conductor

Maestro Alfred Gershfeld – an Honored Artist and an Honored Citizen of the Moldavian Republic.

He holds advanced degrees in conducting and violin performance from the Kishinev and Moscow Conservatories in the former Soviet Union. Before emigrating to the United States in 1990, Maestro Gershfeld served as a founder and conductor of the Moldavian Chamber and Symphony Orchestras, Moldavian opera House, the Moscow Bolshoi Theater, guest-conducted throughout Russia, Bulgaria.

 Upon arriving to the US he started his musical career conducting two operas and presenting his own composition-children’s opera “Karlson on the Roof” at Sarasota Opera House, he has been guest conducting the orchestras in Jerusalem (Israel), Davenport (Iowa) Rochester (New York). He was also invited as a guest conductor to a famous Crane School of Music Festival where he conducted Berlioz “Requiem” with more than 500 participants. He has been an Artistic Director and Conductor of Lake Placid (NY) Synfonietta Summer Festival and led the orchestra for 6 years.

 Maestro Gershfeld has been twice invited back to Europe for participation in a series of concerts and programs as an honored guest conductor. Maestro had been a tenured Professor of Conducting and Director of the Orchestras at the New World School of the Arts in Miami, Florida from 1997-2021. Under his direction in May 2003 the New World School of the Arts Orchestra received a main Festival trophy and a special Jury Trophy in the International Festival in Chicago, IL.

Maestro Gershfeld as Artistic Director and conductor for 25 years is credited with being one of the founders of AMICCO (Anna Maria Island Orchestra and Chorus), and with raising the AMICCO orchestra above technical proficiency to an inspired and spontaneous mastery in performance. Maestro Gershfeld has been in increasing demand as a conductor on both coasts of Florida.

 Maestro has recently retired and moved to Bradenton, back to his good friends, loyal and appreciative audience.

Carlann Evans, Violinist

Carlann Evans earned her Bachelors degree in Violin Performance from Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio studying with Dr. Gary Kosloski, as well as with members of the Cleveland Orchestra. She earned a Master’s degree at The University of Texas at Austin, where she performed with the Austin Symphony and Lyric Opera. After graduating with her Master’s degree, Carlann performed with the Orquesta Sinfonica de Tenerife in the Canary Islands, Spain and the Orchestras in Galicia and Grand Canaria.

Currently, Carlann performs with the Sarasota Orchestra and with colleagues in “Musicians Out of The Box “string quartet, winning a Parents Choice award and Grammy nomination for Children’s Classical Music with the CD entitled “Music Tales”. Carlann has performed in numerous Broadway and Off-Broadway shows at the Asolo Theater and Straz Theater, and is Director of String Orchestras at the Gulf Coast Homeschool Fine Arts Organization.

Carlann has also ventured into other genres with Brian Gurl, singing classics and performing arrangements from Broadway to Jazz. She also plays Irish and Celtic music with Clovers Revenge.
